About The Church

Over the years, I have heard many fanciful things about The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I have also been accused of many fanciful things for being a member of the Church. Ranging from reductive interpretations to outright fabrications, these statements have great potential to mislead people regarding the character of the Church and its members. In light of this, I recommend any time you want to better understand a person or organization that you go directly to the source. Consider, as a humorous example, whether you should determine the merits of a Ford Mustang by talking with a Chevy Camero or a BMW salesman?
Some of the more comical statements I have heard in my life started with the phrase "You believe ..." as if the speaker could read hearts and minds. Then they would refuse to accept the response "No, I don't believe that." Even if the statement was their general understanding of a particular philosophy, teaching, or practice, if the individual or a member of the group objects to the characterization of it, perhaps there is more to consider, and an adjustment of the speaker's understanding is in order.
